Get to Know Your Physical Therapist, John Nunez!

PT Spotlight

We are all really excited about being back in the office, and the ability to see everyone in person again.  Over these last few weeks and months of doing only telehealth appointments, you have invited us into your homes, which has been an amazing experience for all of us.  We have gotten to meet your spouses, your kids, and your pets!  We thought it would be fun to give you a little lens into the side of us that you don’t often get to see, and so over the next couple of weeks, our blog is going to be dedicated to helping you learn a little bit more about us!  Up next is John!

John Nunez, PT, DPT

Where Did You Grow Up – Fishkill, NY

First Injury You Can Remember – Serious one? Concussion when I was 15 that put me in the hospital. I still don’t remember the ambulance ride from the ski slope to the hospital. I just remember waking up in the CT scan machine.

What Made You Want To Become a PT – Rehabbing that hamstring. I met one of my teammates growing up and he was an aide applying for PT school. I was unaware of that and it seemed like a perfect fit for me. Healthcare, hands-on, orthopedic settings etc. I enrolled to finish my prereqs the next day.

Other Profession You Would Choose If Not PT – Teacher/coach

What is one thing most people don’t know about you – I used to attend a sleep-away horse camp when I was younger.

Actor You Would Like To Play You On SNL – Jimmy Fallon or Adam Sandler

Favorite Sport To Watch On TV That You Never Played– Tennis for sure

Guilty Pleasure –  Pizza is too obvious. Gonna say

Sport You Think Would Give You The Best Chance Of Making The Olympics – Speed Skating

What Is Your Favorite Way To Exercise – Running has been my favorite over the past 5 years because I’ve been doing it with more people.

Least Favorite Food – Sauerkraut

Favorite Breakfast Food – Bacon, Egg, and Cheese with salt, pepper, ketchup!

Place You Want  To Visit That You Have Never Been To – Angkor Wat. Its always fascinated me, and I love ancient ruins.

Hardest Class You Took In PT School – Neuroscience because of the material, the only time I’ve ever had a nervous

breakdown. Or histology because it was just so boring. Looking at microscope tissue slides as a presentation for hours at a time was painful.

Highest Altitude You Have Ever Been To – 6,000 ft in CO Springs. Lowest is 212 ft below sea level.

First Job – Dishwasher and ice cream window at EF Provisions

Favorite Part About Being a PT – Staying active in things I love, running and soccer, that are a large part of my career now.
